Step-Changers

About us

Step-Changers International was formed in 2009 by John and Joy Swift. Its main purpose is to continue the development and support of a primary school situated in the Hawaii Estate on the outskirts of Eldoret, Kenya.

John and Joy had been involved with this school for ten years, providing, with help from friends, financial support to pay for the salaries of three teachers.

In 2008, with retirement in view, there was little prospect for the support to continue. However, a visit that year revealed the devastating effects of the 2008 post-election violence, particularly in the Eldoret area, and the huge benefit the school was bringing to that local community.

Consequently, Step-Changers International was founded to attract a wider base of support for this school.

Step-Changers International is Registered UK Charity No. 1137337.
